The Roaring Twentie’s The Roaring Twenties was a time in American history that was demonstrated through social change, rocky politics, and massive economic growth. The booming economy had created a social environment where people could be financially successful. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the many changes and advancements in American society, which occurred during the Roaring Twenties. During the twenties, a phenomenon developed that solidified the social economics of the time. Flappers were young women with active lifestyles who were associated with Jazz and dance movements, such as the Charleston, and known as well for their odd dress (“The Flappers, 2008). These women came to symbolize the culture of the Twenties in that they were rebellious and modern. Their dress and their style offered this generation sophistication and glamour. The generation was identified by controversy between conservatives (traditional) and liberals (modern). During this era, people either turned faithfully to God or negated the importance of religion in their lives. The concept of evolution soon challenged Creationism. Because of scientific discoveries and new inventions during this time, educational institutions promoted scientific learning. Society was effectivly torn between traditional and modern views debating the relevance of religion.
