Unformatted text preview: HCA 210 Week 1 CheckPoint: Ambulatory Care • Post a 200- to 300-word response to the following: • Due to medical advancements and increasing costs, many health care services or procedures have moved from the inpatient hospital setting to the outpatient ambulatory care setting. What are the main purposes of ambulatory care? Do you think ambulatory care is changing societies view on health care? Why or why not? How can its services improve? After working for a surgeon myself, I have seen patients struggle to come up with the money to pay for surgery in a large hospital. In cases where the patient was going to have an outpatient procedure done the physician that I worked for would do the surgery through an outpatient hospital, or in the office based on the need of anesthetic. If a local anesthetic were acceptable, the procedure would be done in the office. If a general anesthetic were necessary, the procedure procedure would be done in the office....
