SCI 275 WK 5 DQ 1 Answer: My house hold emitted 2281 pounds of pollution which is much more than the national average of 1654 in the month of February. My biggest contributor was natural gas with 1312 pounds followed by auto at 528 pounds and electricity at 424 pounds. My heating system and hot water heater in my home uses natural gas. This winter has been exceptionally cold and my natural gas bill has doubled. I can lower my total by reducing my natural gas usage. This can be done by setting my thermostat in the house at 68 degrees instead of the warm and toasty 74 degrees. This would require me to wear warmer clothing in the house in the winter time. I also like long hot showers. Taking shorter showers would also reduce the usage of natural gas. In order to reduce my electricity usage, I can unplug my electronics that are not in use, spend less time looking into the refrigerator trying to decide what looks good and will taste good and watch less TV. My greatest challenge is the unusually cold weather in the east coast this year. I am willing to
