LAB REPORT M3 EXPERIMENT: EQUILIBRIUM OF FORCES VI-1: In this experiment we learnt how the degree changes with the force applied. At first we had to find uncertainty (σ). We found that a minimum of 4.0 g need to applied and 2.0 degree to create a displacement from equilibrium. σ mass=4 σ angle=2 VI-2: In this part we set up force table, we used 3 forces. 2 forces more then 120 degrees away from each other and we varied the 3 rd depending on the different mass that would create the equilibrium. Then later on we used 4 forces, 3 forces were placed at fixed angles and the 4 th was moved depending on the different mass that would create the equilibrium. The table for the masses, angles, and forces are recorded in the tables below. To find the force I used the equation F=mg where the force is mass X gravity and I had to convert the mass into kg so the units are Newton’s.
