Haley Orr 21 October 2009 CE 223 Jia MUTCD Website Part 4 – Highway Traffic Signals The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) is a very good manual to use when needing to know what standards to use when designing traffic controls for streets and highways. There are sixteen topics covered in Part Four of the MUTCD: General, Traffic Control Signals – General; Traffic Control Signal Needs Studies; Traffic Control Signal Features; Pedestrian Control Features; Traffic Control Signal for Emergency Vehicle Access; Traffic Control Signals for One-Lane, Two-Lane Facilities; Traffic Control Signals for Freeway Entrance Ramps; Traffic Control for Movable Bridges; Lane-Use Control Signals; Flashing Beacons; In-Roadway Lights; Traffic Control Signal Needs Studies; Traffic Control Signal Features; Pedestrian Control Features; and Lane-Use Control Signals.
