Capital of Peru Lima is the capital of Peru. It is the largest city in Peru Lima is the 19 th most populous city in Peru consisting of about 7,819,436 . Because of the Humboldt Current, Lima is covered in fog seven months of the year. Lima gets very little rain throughout the year and the sky is almost always overcast. City of Lima Peru founded by Francisco Pizarro on January 6, 1535. During the early 16th century, the location of what is now the city of Lima was inhabited by several Amerindian groups under the domination of the Inca Empire. In 1532, a group of Spanish conquistadors led by Francisco Pizarro defeated the Inca ruler and took over his empire.
