Syllabus for Introduction to Microeconomics 01: 220:102 Section H1 Summer 2009 Lecture: 10:10 AM ~ 12:00 PM, Mon. through Thurs., Scott Hall, Room 116 Instructor: Xuelian Zhang Office: New Jersey Hall, Room 423 Email: xzhang@econ.rutgers.edu Office hour: 12:30~1:30 PM on Wed Textbook : N. Gregory Mankiw, Principles of Microeconomics , 5 th edition. David Hakes, Study Guide , 5 th edition. A combined package with both items should be in the Rutgers’ bookstore. Course description : This course serves as an introduction to microeconomics. Students will learn the core microeconomic principles, fundamental concepts, and theories of modern microeconomic analysis. Grading: Grades are based on 5 homework assignments, two midterm exams and one final exam: Homework assignment: 100 points Midterm exam 1: 100 points Midterm exam 2: 100 points Final exam: 200 points Homework: Homework will be assigned every Thursday and will be due on the following Monday in class. L ate work will not be accepted and will receive a grade of zero . (No exception to this policy). The correct answers for homework will be posted on Sakai. Note: General course announcements, homework answers and exam results will be posted on Sakai . You are responsible for checking Sakai frequently to ensure you won’t miss important course information. Exams: (NO MAKE UP) Two midterm exams and one final exam will be given during regular class time. Midterm exam 1 is scheduled for 7/20 (tentative), midterm exam 2 is scheduled
