ORIENTATION HISTORY 1301-8434/9041 Spring 2009 Hello and welcome to History 1301. I am your instructor, Dr. David Buice, (pronounced like Bice), and I thought I would begin by saying a few words about myself. I have a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Oklahoma and have been teaching at the collegiate level for over 30 years. I taught for 26 years at Louisiana Tech University before taking an early retirement in 1992. After working several years in the private sector, I returned to academics in the fall of 2002 and now work as an adjunct professor at Richland College and in Frisco at Collin County Community College. In addition to history, my interests include collecting antique flags and binoculars, reading, baking bread, bicycling, attempting to play blues harmonica, and just “hanging out” with my wife, Tina, and our yellow Lab, Holly.
