Unformatted text preview: Mike Rumler ID# 000894645 Identity Theft-Identity theft is a crime in which a criminal obtains peoples personal information, such as a Social Security number or driver's license numbers, in order to pose as the victim. The information that they attain can be used to obtain credit, merchandise, and services using the victims name. One of the biggest problems with identity theft is that very often the crimes committed by the identity theft expert are often attributed to the victim. Another problem is that the victim has no idea that they are actually victims until the crime has already been committed. The victim usually finds out when a credit card company submits a statement to them with the mysterious transaction. Often the identity thief will use the stolen identity to acquire even more credit products by changing your address so that you never see the credit card bills that the thief runs up. The reason I choose this topic is because identity theft is a huge problem in todays thief runs up....
