Eliot Date of Writing: November 13, 2009 Country of Origin: United States of America Synopsis: Main Idea: The poem centers on a balding, insecure middle-aged man. He does try to make his life better, but his nervousness and fear of failure inhibit him from taking action. Main Characters/ Characteristics: 1. J. Alfred Prufrock- the speaker/narrator, a timid, overcautious middle-aged man. However, he is hesitant to take part in any conversation
