There are patients that have elective surgeries like spinal fusions, craniotomies, and other on the back or head. When it comes to a trauma surgeon they can perform exploratory laparotomies for a abdominal pain, splenectomies, neck exploration, and others. In their week also is being in the clinic so they can plan for the future surgeries, and post- operatively to see if they can heal after surgery. His primary responsibility is to make sure the patient with a head injury or spinal cord injury is evaluated and to have a CT scan to make sure there is no life or limb threatening medical condition. Doing this they have to have devotion for life, working around 80 hours a week, plus on call. Even though it is tough you are the that can save a patients life....
