Axia College Material Appendix D Seven Organizational Approaches A. Use the matrix below to describe each approach to organizing information about the body. Discuss how each approach can be used. Approach Describe the approach How might the approach be used? Body planes and directions The planes and directions approach is having the body in anatomical position so it can be examined in the three body planes and many directional movements. The planes are: the coronal plane, the midsagittal plane, and the transverse plane. The approach to these planes is to divide the body into sections, top and bottom, right and left, front and back. The directions represent movement towards or away from those planes. This approach would be used in examination, treatment, and or study of the human body. Having planes and directions allows one to accurately map and document exactly what ever it is they’re doing in regards to the human body. Body cavities The body cavities approach pertains to how the body can be studied according to its cavities and their internal organs. A body cavity is a hallow space that is surrounded by muscles and bones. The five body cavities’ approach can be used in a number of ways.
