As the tube spun, the red blood cells went to the bottom of the tube, the white blood cells covered RBCs with a thin layer called the Buffy coat, and the liquid plasma was at the top. The height of the red cells is measured as a percent of the total blood column with the Critocaps card. The higher number of red cells, the higher the Hematocrit. The expected result is that the subject falls in normal range.
