Unformatted text preview: CHM 2211-0787 QUIZ 2-key I am pleased to say that quiz went well. There are a lot of students that got a grade above 75. Some of you improve from the first quiz already. Some though have problems with NMR (not so bad) and reactions. Here are the most common mistakes. Some of you undergo optical illusion how epoxides open. They open (providing that you count the carbons and actually open them) with C-nucleophiles and H-nucleophiles and O-nucleophiles and N-nuceophiles from the less substituted side. Organocopper reagents do not react with ketones and aldehydes only with halides (without any additional functional groups!) and with epoxides (the same way as the Grignard reagents).-Some of you made mistakes with Grignard reactions; you can useGrignard reagent with aldehyde, ketone or epoxide and then you do acidic workup in water!!! Do not react epoxide with acid and then add Grignard epoxide and then you do acidic workup in water!...
