Brianne McClellan HIST 467 MWF 1-1:50 Walthall Ch . 10 10/8/2010 Takahashi Masao was born in 1901 .  He was the youngest of six children.  Their father  was a mail carrier and they grew up not always having enough money to even buy the necessities  such as food .  In elementary school Takahashi was at the top of his class.  Because of his family’s  financial situation they were not able to afford to have him be educated beyond elementary  school .  Fortunately they had a wealthy neighbor who wanted to pay for his schooling.  He went  onto middle school and eventually college where he majored in economics .  He made sure to  always send money back to his family .  Going to college was a rare thing during his time.  Less  than one percent of boys were able to further their education past elementary school . At an early age Takahashi found a passion for politics
