Brianne McClellan Summary #5 10/1/2010 MWF 1-1:50 Matsuura Isami was born in 1880 .  Isami belonged to one of the wealthiest families and as  the eldest son, was the heir .  At the age of twenty-one he married his fourteen year old cousin.  This marriage had been an arranged one .  Their marriage lasted fifty years and in that time they  had fifteen children .  All of these children, except for one, lived into adulthood.   Isami was different from many fathers .  He was not distant and cold, nor did he leave all  of the work to his wife .  Instead, he was a very involved father.  This was in part because he  wanted to be but also because of the large number of children that were in his household .  Both  his children and his siblings’ children lived in his household .
