Assignment 2 1. a. i. Voice and accountability- researchers use this indicator to determine how large a role common citizens play in holding policy makers and politicians accountable to them. This helps researchers gauge the scope of powers of governments and how effectively they represent the needs of their constituents. ii. Political stability- this is important for those signing treaties, making laws, and giving loans. They need to know the stability of the country’s government and if the terms of their deals are likely to be upheld. iii. Government effectiveness- Researchers need to know if the government is executing policies and laws properly; the country’s funds must be developed in a transparent cost-effective manner. They are looking to see that there is no leakage, waste, etc. iv. Regulatory quality- Researchers measure the quality by checking the compliance to rules and policies in place. This helps researchers determine if the policies and rules are being followed. v. Rule of law- Important to see how the law is upheld. No one is above the law, and it applies to all people. Researchers use this tool to see how well the law is
