Improving motivation in the workplace is important and an interesting topic, as everyone has to enter the workforce at some point in their lives. Therefore, the job design is the key. How people fit into jobs and finding ways to motivate those people. Each job has characteristics that are important factors. The question is what characteristics are more important and others? That is what this assignment was all about. Ranking the importance of these job characteristics is ultimately dependent on what your personal career goals are. Therefore, working as a team to develop a consensus and comparing to our own individual rankings as to which job characteristics were most valuable to least important was a test. Additionally, you had to rank what you believe to be the most important to others. See Appendix A for “Team Exercise Worksheet” for results.
