ESS 112 Structural Geology (Fall 2009) 1.Instructor: An Yin ([email protected]), Geology Building 4676, x58752 (cell, 310497-7365 for emergency) 2.TA: Paul Bugesss ( [email protected] ) 3.Textbook: “Structural Geology” by R.J. Twiss and E.M. Moores 4.Grading: Midterm exam = 20%, final exam = 25%, homework = 5%, lab = 35%, and class presentation = 15%. Students who fail the lab will automatically fail the course. 5.Class Presentation: Each student is required to give a 10-minute presentation on a research article published in the past two years (i.e., 2008 and 2009) on a timely important subject in Structural Geology. The best sources of potential papers for presentations are (1) Journal of Structural Geology, (2) Tectonophysics, and (3) Tectonics. 6.Attendance to the class is important as some of the materials may not be covered by textbooks and the power-point materials posted on the ESS Servers. 7.Office Hours: by appointments only.
