Overall, I would have to say that the government census statistics are what truly opened my eyes to a better understanding of the various minority groups in the United States. When I was able to put numbers on heads, the perspective was initially overwhelming. This information has allowed me to discover information in regards to the lifestyles, education, and backgrounds of many cultures. I have not learned an incredible amount about my own culture in this class. I was previously educated on my ethnicity in a previous institution so what I discovered came as no surprise. The real interesting information I learned was of other people and their styles of living. I am not sure what the face of America will be in forty years. What I am sure of though,

Unformatted text preview: is change. The rate that immigrants are coming here is increasing year by year. It is estimated that by 2020 that whites will be the social minority. This will open the gateways to change. Who knows, perhaps our entire country will adapt, turning into something not once imagined. Our country can best prepare for this change by way of education. The more our people know about immigrants and their lifestyles, the easier it will be to adapt. We are a nation without reprieve. We should accept new people with open arms; take what information these individuals can provide, and then thrive....
