01:02 The relative plate motion b/w North America and the Pacific Plate, is about 5cm a  year Almost all 90%+ of 5cm/year accommodated on 2 fault systems San Andreas (70% of total relative plate motion, 3.5cm/year) –in Central CA  Eastern California Shear Zone -East Side of the Sierra Nevada – (1 cm/year) Present Configuration of the Pacific-North American plate boundary Garlock Fault – left-lateral strike slip Forms with the San Andreas a “Conjugate Pair” Where San Andreas is Right Lateral and the Garlock fault is left-lateral coming  together Slip Rate of about 7mm/year (Bigger, more active faults in CA) GPS Vectors for Southern California Plate motion is different at different places. In Central CA,  San Andreas is dominant  San Andreas Fault is not parallel to the vectors (about a 30 degree angle  between the strike and the gps vectors)  San Andreas Fault
