There are many differences between retail and wholesale, as their similarities. To start analyzing what makes them different we should fist look at the definitions of the two. Retailing is defined as “set of business activities that add value to products and services sold to customers for their personal use.” The definition of wholesaling is “firms engaged in buying, taking, storing, and physically handling goods in large quantities, then reselling to retailers or users.” So right off the bat we notice the placement of these two types of business on the supply chain. Manufactures sell to wholesalers in large quantities, and then wholesaler sell the products to retail stores in smaller quantities. At this point, this is where the consumer comes into play, and the products hold its value. One of the differences between retail and wholesale, are their buying habits. Obviously when purchasing products, wholesalers are looking for a wide variety of items to purchase in hopes of fulfilling the needs the retail stores. On the other hand, retailers are buying products in much smaller quantities, perhaps one particular product, or line of products to meet the needs of their customers. So ultimately there is a similarity hidden within their buying habits, and that is
