BUSI 1402 D – INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY Assignment 1 1. The main problem mentioned in this article is privacy and how a user’s personal information can be viewed by everyone. People these days try to be less anonymous on the Internet and fill up every possible information about them on social sites like Facebook. Advertisers don’t really need to know what information a user shares and whether it’s made private or public. Once it was on Facebook, users like and dislikes are automatically used and ads are targeted at them. Another issue motioned in is that many of the third party programs, such as quizzes and games, do not usually follow Facebook’s privacy rules so once a user actually participates in them, information is collected. Although people are concerned about their privacy, they continue to use Facebook. 2. Yes, I agree with Cowen. Personal information is meant to be personal. Information uploaded onto Facebook about a user, meant that it was freely available to everyone. Although people understand what actually
