Information Systems and Software Applications The two organizational departments in discussion are Accounting, and Human Resources. I will identify the roles of information systems within these departments. I will also discuss the required applications needed for these departments. Accounting is the system of records in a business to maintain its accounting system. This includes sales, expenses, purchases, and other financial processes of the business. The goal of this system is to collect data and provide decision makers such as managers and investors with information. While this was previously a paper-based process, many businesses now use accounting software such as Quickbooks, Peachtree, and many various types in the market. These applications help in recording and processing accounting transactions within individual modules like payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger. This can be developed within the company who is using it or it can be outsourced from a third party. The software package can be modified depending on its use by the company and how much they are willing to spend. Furthermore, there are different grades of accounting software for home users who require minimal accounting to manage budgets, and for simple account reconciliation who are not
