Assignment 1.1 Explorations p.12 - 13 1) Speed depends on how your car stops. So speed is equivalent to input. The output is the distance of how far the car went and when you hit the brakes. Results cannot be the same due to various possibilities. For example, weather conditions, traffic, etc. In conclusion, most likely there would be no function. 3) The mode has multiple outputs. When there is more than one number in a set repeated multiple times then there are numerous modes. For example, in this set, {55, 55, 56, 56, 57, 57, 58} there are many modes. However, medians and means only have one output. 5) No the mode does not tell you anything about other temperatures. Therefore, results will vary. For example, in this set, the month of February could go like this: {4, 4, 4, 4, 10, 10, 17, 17, 17, 17, 17, 25, 25}. 7) {-6, -2, 0,17, 17, 20, 30, 40}. Results will vary. 8) Tables a.) & b.) are functions because there are no repeated numbers in each Inputs & Outputs. However, tables c.) & d.) are NOT functions as they have repeated numbers in each Inputs or Outputs. 12)
