Unformatted text preview: MATH 135 Fall 2008 Final Exam Information Date, Time and Location Saturday 06 December, 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m Sections 001 to 006: In Physical Activities Complex (PAC), Sections 1 to 12 Section 007: MC 4045, MC 4059, MC 4061 Section 008: DC 1350 Section 009: DC 1351 N.B. It is very important that you write the final exam in the correct location. Question & Answer Session There will be a Question & Answer Session held on Friday 05 December from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in AL 116. Material Covered The Final Exam will cover all sections listed on the Course Outline, ending with section 8.5. While the Final Exam does cover the entire course, the last third of the course (Blocks IX to XII) will be emphasized more than each of the first two thirds, which have already been tested. Calculators Only the Faculty approved calculators with the Pink Tie stickers will be allowed. Definitions, Theorems and Proofs The Final Exam could ask you to state any definition from Blocks I to XII. You should know all results from class. The Final Exam could also ask you to prove at least one of the following results from class: • Theorem 2.53 • Proposition 3.99 • Theorem 7.41 • Proposition 8.42 In each of these cases, we would state the result and ask you to prove it. Please note that the results may not be stated using exactly the same notation as in the textbook, so memorizing the proofs symbol by symbol is not a good approach. It is also possible that you might be asked to prove only a specific part ofsymbol is not a good approach....
