General Purpose: To inform Specific Purpose: At the end of the speech, the audience will know how to change oil in a car. Central idea: Oil Change: What’s liquidly, black, and needs to be changed about every 3,000 miles? Oil in the engine of a car. Today I am going to tell you what you need to prepare to do an oil change, a brief rundown of how to actually change your oil, and few things to do when the job is complete. 1) What you need to prepare (includes the materials, tools and locating the oil drain/fill) A) Tools 1) Recommended tools according to: Professional Mechanic B) Materials 1) Oil (discuss) Climate Considerations a) Cold verses Hot weather (when considering oil weights) This according to “Motor Oil Myths and Facts”. C) Locate oil drain/fill II) Actually how to perform operation which involves draining the oil and removing the filter. A) Drain oil into the oil pan and replace plug 1) Oil in pan and replacing the plug. B) Remove oil filter with the oil filter removing tool.
