Towards the end, Philo discusses “the problem of evil” Existence of evil affects how we depict God o If God is Omnipotent-able to do everything, and Omniscient-, and  Benevolent-wishes the best for all people = no evil o If there is evil, then one of the following above is false o If Omnipotent and Benevolent = God is dumb (doesn’t know how to go  about doing things) o If Omniscient and Benevolent = God is helpless o If Omnipotent and Omniscient = God is mean (wants to hurt us) o Evil is incompatible with these properties o Idea/theory: If there is evil in the world, then there is a God that doesn’t  have all these qualities Could also use the “free will” defense:
