How to Succeed in Physics You learn music, soccer, waterpolo, physics , etc. by practicing under the watchful eye of an instructor/coach. Physics 7A : About 2.5 hours of practice in lecture, about 9.5 hours of practice in DL each week, and maybe 6-8 hours of practice at home each week. Practice doing what? Many people think that learning physics means memorizing how to do specific problems. Don’t think this way! We will never ask you to do the same problem twice so it won’t help you to memorize any solutions. Learning physics means learning how to use models to analyze physical situations in the world. On quizzes we will give you new problems that you have never seen before and ask you to analyze them using the methods you have learned. Don’t learn the answers ! Learn how to use the models to find the answers .
