AGED 260: Guidelines for Constructing Your Leadership Theory Analysis Assignment (LTA) The LTA should reinforce your understanding of the theories, concepts and approaches to leadership development discussed in class and increase their relevance to your own leadership growth. The LTA is an overview of your understanding of theory and an action plan for improving your leadership abilities with short term and long term objectives for leadership growth. Each section should be no longer than one single-sided page , 1.5 or 2.0 line spacing , with one-inch margins , and no smaller than 11 point font . Please start each new section on a separate page . Elements of Your LTA – Part 1 G Describe your interest in improving your leadership ability and identify situations where you could make an impact as a leader both now and in the future. D Describe your personal role models and leaders from your own life who have impacted you positively. D Discuss your definition of leadership and importance of leadership growth to you as a student at the U of I and in your career upon graduation. Trait Approach G Define the approach in your own words. D Summarize the findings of the assessments used in this approach including, 1) Leadership Trait Questionnaire and 2) the Big Five Personality Profile. Briefly analyze your assessment results. D Connect what you have learned about the approach to how it could help you be a better leader by describing a concrete area for further leadership growth. Core Values D Define core values in your own words & discuss why knowing your core values is important for leaders. D Summarize your core and supporting values and relate them to your growth as a leader. Skills Approach D Define the approach in your own words. D Summarize the findings of the assessments used in this approach including, 1) Leadership Skills Inventory. Briefly analyze your assessment results. D Connect what you have learned about the approach to how it could help you be a better leader by describing a concrete area for further leadership growth. Style Approach D Define the approach in your own words. D Summarize the findings of the assessment used in this approach: 1) Leadership Style Questionnaire. Briefly analyze your assessment results.
