[ SHOPEE – SEA GROUP ] Company Profile Shopee is a private limited e-company of Singapore which was first established in year 2009 under an umbrella corporation of Sea Group (previously known as Garena) by a Chinese- born entrepreneur, Mr. Forrest Li (Shopee, 2020). In the year of 2015, Shopee has started its e-commerce website and mobile application which have much to do with its success . Soon after in year 2019, it has first launched its headquarter in Singapore with over 8 thousand of employees to make online shopping easy and secure for both sellers and buyers in the market. Shopee has also expanded its operation and business over Southeast Asia and Taiwan with an extreme wide range of product offerings for the business over the years. Shopee’s product offerings are vary from consumer electronics to home & living, health & beauty, baby & toys, fashion and even fitness equipment, etc. Apart from that, Shopee has also partnered with over 70 courier companies across its markets to provide logistic and shipping services for its users (Shopee, 2020). At the beginning, Shopee first started its business as a consumer-to-consumer (C2C) business model that involves the transaction of products in between sellers, buyers and some third parties. In C2C model, the initial platform of shopee acts as an intermediate business which allows sellers to post an item for sale and buyers to purchase and bid it meanwhile there will be some third parties who charge commission from each item sold on Shopee. Basically, this C2C business model was quite popular in among individuals who wish to resell their unused or second hand products. Today’s Shopee has evolved its business into business-to-consumer (B2C) model for a complete product or service transaction. In B2C model, sellers can apply Shopee’s channels to move business online which involve the processes of product positioning, pricing, promoting and even delivering without any middleman.
