UWP 18 #01 Fall 2010 DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY  Topic :  due  Monday, Oct. 18, in journal Draft:   due  in class, Monday, Oct. 25, 2010 (2 copies)  (800 words) Revision : due  in class, Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 (with draft and  workshop)  (1200 words) This essay prioritizes description:  writing  that vividly creates a tangible sensual  impression—paints  a picture or conveys other sense impressions that readers can  experience vicariously.  The description  may be literal and/or  figurative: the concrete  details and/or  images communicate emotions and  significance to the reader. The editors of  the California Aggie  are looking for short feature articles describing  places  in Davis or the surrounding  area, which their readers might not know  about but would   find of interest.  They want  essays that would  encourage  readers to visit or to view the  place differently after reading  the piece. You may also choose to write for a general audience about  another  place or about an
