In researching and discovering views of support, opposition and simple informing of bilingualism and the official language movement in education and politics in the United States, many topics are presented. Bilingualism in education and politics has become important issues in the diversity of the population of the United States. The ability to speak another language fluently, other than English, has its advantages. Politicians that are able to speak Spanish as a second language are gaining popularity. Politicians in Florida are especially highlighting this growing trend. The ability to speak both languages is being looked at as a major factor in political races and circles. Former Florida Senator Mel Martinez and former Governor Jeb Bush are two statewide politicians who are also both bilingual. Florida has a very diverse population and a very large Hispanic influence in many arenas throughout the state.
