Lab Objective: The objective of this lab was to learn the significance and use of various measuring instruments that are used in various testing labs as well as in industry. This lab was also designed to show that there is variability in measuring. This means that measuring is just as much a manufacturing process than the actual creation of a part itself. Description of Tools: There were a variety of tools used in this measuring lab. The tools consisted of Vernier Caliper, 2-3” Micrometer, Height Stand, and CMM. Feature Measurement Body Diameter, A • Using a VernierCaliper, measure the diameter of the spherical feature at the waist. • Using 2-3" micrometer, measure the same diameter Flange Diameter, B • Using a Vernier Caliper, measure the diameter of the Flange.
