African American Defeats All Odds The majority of my African American ancestors descend from slaves, who were sold into slavery as prisoners of war by African states or kidnapped by African, European, or American slave traders. The market that was existed for slaves in Africa was exploited and expanded by European powers in need of labor for New World plantations. African Americans population was made up of the various ethnic groups from western and central Africa. Over time, in most areas of the Americas, these different peoples did away with tribal differences and forged a new history and culture that was a realization of their common pasts and present. (African American History, Wikipedia ) Africans first arrived in 1619, when a Dutch ship sold 19 Blacks as indentured servants to Englishmen at Jamestown, Virginia. ( Wright, Kai. 2001) I was raised up with a tale. I was told that if I studied hard, obeyed the Constitution, the Bible, and obtain a good education, I would live a good in life. Most of my life, I held grudges
