1Argument Summary Paper 6Election and predestination are the focus of Calvin’s Reformation discourse this week. These concepts are expanded and the author sheds light into how God demonstrates His power and sovereignty when choosing some and rejecting others. He says it Himself in Romans 9:15 when He says, “I will show mercy to whom I will…,” (NAMBRE 1970) meaning that the only place where you can find the reasoning behind His choices “is in God himself.” (Humphries 2.127) The amazing and important detail when discussing this is that He does it with love, compassion, and according to His purpose for the lives of the chosen ones. He does point out that God dictates who goes to heaven as well as who goes to hell. This identifies His philosophy in dual predestination. “Calvin argues that Scripture reveals quite simply that all are not created on equal terms, but some are preordained to eternal life, others to eternal damnation.”
