DQ 1 Week-8 day 2 Q: What factors led to the Western expansion movement at this time? What other factors contributed to the movement? How has the notion of Manifest Destiny shaped the world today? A: The primary factor that led to western expansion was greed. Whether western expansion consisted of search for land, gold, profits, or just means of surviving it always seemed the underlying cause was greed. The quest for more land seem to be the reason for many, in search of more land or land with fertile soil. However, greed played a key factor, because at this time it didn't even matter if the land was already inhabited their was a sense of feeling that they could just move in and take over. In addition another factor contributing to western expansion was the search for gold and profit, as well as new trade routes. Some were just searching for a place with better means socially, politically, and economically for providing for their family.The primary idea behind Manifest destiny is the belief that we can take what we want under any
