Unformatted text preview: klzxcvbnmqwer tyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbn Jehovah Witness HUM/130 RELIGIONS OF THE WORLD 4/10/2010 Bonita Martin I have always been curious about other religions. I believe in right, and wrong and I don’t feel one religion can define everything. One day while at work a coworker came in, and another coworker was talking about a car accident she was in her. She has serve blood lost, and had to get a blood transfusion. My co-worker said, “Wow I would have died. My religion forbids me to get blood transfusions.” This lit a light bulb in my mind, and the information I received I will talk about in this paper. Jehovah Witness cannot receive red cells, white cells, platelets, and plasma. In this paper I will explore Jehovah Witness religion, their beliefs, and their interpretation of the Bible. I have interviewed an old coworker about her religion, and her interpretation of it. I will break the paper up into the interview information, research information, compare and contrast of Jehovah witnesses and Christianity, and a conclusion of this paper. I hope I answer all possible questions about Jehovah witnesses in this paper. I did my interview via phone. I was uncomfortable with going to a Jehovah Witness hall. There services tend to be lengthy, and the congregation usually breaks for lunch. The basic knowledge I wanted to get from the interview was the basic who, what, and why questions. I want to know who Jehovah Witness praises, what was the reason for some of the rules they believed in, and why do they go door –to-door. Interview summary Bonita: Hello, Thank you for taking the time out to set and educate me about your religion {Jehovah Witness}. So, where you baptized into this religion or was this life style a choice? Alyssia: I was “born” in to {chuckle} if that’s what you want to call it, but it is also a chosen life style on my part. Bonita: Can you elaborate? Alyssia: I could have left, but I stayed because I agreed with those beliefs. Bonita: Ok. So, what you think it is to be a Jehovah witness? Alyssia: To be a Jehovah witness one you have to believe in their beliefs, and will- Ing to accept the Jehovah witness lifestyle. Bonita: So what are their belief, our just your beliefs? And what is your life style. Alyssia: Like ok everyone knows that we don’t celebrate holidays, and birthdays. We call it pegin Holidays. So my family saves a lot because of that and we vacation a lot, my mom brought me and my brother a cars in the same of our birthdays. My parents try to do a lot of little things. Now our life styles are the same as any other. I t’s not like with middle Eastern they pray a lot, and don’t eat meat. That’s not a witness of Jehovah. My daily life is going to meetings, and for me that’s two nights a week which is is at the Kingdom Hall. Then on Saturday mornings I go spread the word. Bonita: Why do you guys go so early on Saturdays? You guys are always waking me up?...
