Charles Samuel 10/12/10 ANTH1200 Neo-Liberalism Article The article I read was called “The Failure of Neo-Liberalism.” It was published the New York Times in February of 2008 by Phillip Bond. This was a very interesting article and I noticed that there were some similarities between Neo-liberalism and the World Systems Theory. The two of these ideas are alike because they are both for capitalism, expanding markets, and modernization. This article “Failure of Neo-Liberalism” makes many points about why neo- liberalism went wrong, but within these, it talks about why it should have worked and how it involved capitalism, a major part of the World Systems Theory as well. One of the points it makes is about how the right wing talks about making free markets that are supposed to provide growth to all sectors within society.
