The first piece is 1/2 the mass of the original object, and travels at 12.0 m/s at 30° north of east after the explosion. The second piece is 1/4 the mass of the original object and travels at 9.0 mfs at 50° south of east after the explosion. What is the speed and direction of travel of the third piece? (15 pts) In the diagram below, the wheel has a mass of 2.0 kg, a radius of 0.50 In and a moment of inertia of 0.30 kg-mz. What force F applied at the center would cause the disk to accelerate at 1.50 this2 while rolling without slipping? (20 pts) A 250 kg satellite is in a circular orbit around the earth, 350 km above the earth’s surface. After a while, the satellite falls out of its orbit and crashes into the earth at a speed of 3.50 kin/s because of resistance from the air, which is very thin at that altitude but is nonetheless capable of bringing it down.
