Mesmer_W_w4_Discussion I think the first time I realized what prejudice was I was in middle school. The first time I knew what discrimination was I was in my second high school. You see the first high school I went to was predominantly Caucasian, and all the African-American kids were pretty cool. Granted, they only made up about 10% of the school population, but they were for the most part just like any of the other students. Then I got transferred to a predominately African-American school and I was just another white kid they thought they could beat up on. I tell you with no exaggerations that I was in two or even three fights a day for no other reason than I was white. I learned some very hard lessons that year. I had to give up after school sports, which I loved, and had no choice but to skip P.E. or else I was going to get jumped by a mob in the locker room by 10-15 kids. I had a hard enough time dealing with two or three at a time. It got really bad after I got jumped by 5 other kids in the hall and one pulled a knife. I got cut and he went
