Matt Burke January 10, 2007 Writing 140 Diagnostic Essay Language is an integral part of everyone’s lives; whether in a class, out to dinner, or just hanging out with friends. Through language and the way one talks, one is able to get beyond the superficial layers and get to know someone else on a deeper level. For me specifically playing sports and going on backpacking expeditions, communication plays a bigger role than one might imagine. The only way to be a successful team or group and a team with the same goals are through communication both on and off the field. A winning team is usually one with very good communication skills because through language and talking to each other one can give positive or negative feedback, tell a teammate what they need to work on, share goals with one another, focus on a common team goal, and bond as a group of brothers. I have played on many different teams and always the teams that I have had the most fun playing on (that usually means winning) and the teams that I have the most
