Kait Edgin RTL 3360 February 22, 2010 TOMS Shoes was founded by Blake Mycoskie in Venice Beach California in 2006, and ever since then, these kicks have been a huge success. During the first year on the market, over 10,000 TOMS were sold. Blake Mycoskie was a world travelor and in 2006, he had traveled to Argentina, making friends with many of the children there.

He was saddened to find that many of the children he met were shoeless- that is when he decided to do something about it. After the success of TOMS shoes in America in 2006, he returned to Argentina and unveiled the second phase of his master business plan. He called this plan the Shoe Drop Tour; during the Shoe Drop tour, volunteer TOMS Shoes devotees hand deliver pairs of shoes to children around the world. Since TOMs start, they have provided more than 400,000 pairs of shoes to underprivileged children around the world (Coorporate).
