The four hundred members of API are dedicated to the consistent efforts to improve the compatibility of their operations with the environment while economically developing energy resources and supplying high quality product services. API members pledge to manage their businesses accordingly to some basic principles. For example to operate their plants and facilities and handle raw materials and products in a manner that protects the environment and the safety and health of employees and the public, also to partake with government and others in creating responsible laws, regulations and standards to safeguard the community, workplace and environment. The UNFCCC is an international environmental treaty with the goal of achieving stabilization of greenhouse gas concentration in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system. The API and many other corporations in this industry all attempt to follow the Kyoto Protocol in order to be on schedule with our plans of lowering carbon emissions in our future environment. Furthermore the American Petroleum Institute is dedicated to continuous efforts to safely improve this important industry of resources which has such a major affect in our world today....
