THE PURPOSE OF THE SIMULATION: The aim of the project is simulating temperature distribution around an electronic chip. To simulate this distribution, Fluent and Gambit are used. THE SIMULATION PROCEDURE: Preparing Geometry in Gambit Because of our electronic chip’s simple form, 2D simulation is nearly gives us the same results as 3D. Therefore chip can be easily sketched in Gambit. Firstly, the points which put the edges together are determined. Then these points are connected to each other. 1

Generating Mesh in Gambit After this step, mesh is created. Therefore this chip can be simulated at Fluent. To generate mesh, first step is deciding the mesh points on edges. According to boundary layer, mesh frequency on inlet and outlet edges are increased. The mesh frequency on the center of the top wall is also increased because velocities increased at the center due to the chip. To create mesh in these conditions, submap scheme is decided to use. 3
