CHEM173 Review Notes for Final Spring 2006 Note that the questions on the midterm are unlikely to be identical to any of the questions that I have given as homework. The idea is instead that the concepts they review will be useful for the exam. Remember to also study the questions and answers from the first two midterms. The best way to study for the midterm is to review your notes from lecture, section, and the text. Here is the summary from lecture: Review for Final Prehistoric and present day mean temperatures Role of CO 2 in oceans/atmos.; O 2 , O 3 , H 2 O Climate Change (Ch. 1, H1-3) Absorption, fluorescence, mass spectrometry UV/Vis, FTIR, XRF, X-ray, IC, MS Measurement (G17, FP11) Particles as CCN in Köhler curves; acidic rain >80 nm with soluble salt: NaCl, sulfates, nitrates. Aerosols and Clouds (Ch. 6, 7) The following problems in Hobbs are particularly helpful: Appendix 1 problems 1a-f, 1t- 1v, 1w, 2-5, 27-32, 33-40.
