When I enrolled for this course, I did not expect it to be as philosophical as it is. To my surprise, integrating the component of philosophy makes a lot of sense. Concerning the article, I am not surprised that there is little conversation between agronomists and philosophers because, I think, certain schools of study can sometimes segregate themselves, slowing the progress of thought. The metaphysical idea of nature as a machine is very real, and like alcoholics the problem needs to be recognized before any steps forward can be successfully taken. The ecological role of biodiversity in agroecosystems. As rare plants become extinct, the gene pool and genetic diversity becomes depleted. This means the genetic improvement of plants comes to a slow or nonexistent pace. It also means any medicine or any other scientific gain cannot be extracted. There is no protection for erosion due to the lack of roots
