Rye Sup Hong Journal 1 These chapters show how Hester has changed in positive way over the seven years since she had Pearl. First, people seem to forgive her sin because people interpret the “A” which is marked on her chest as meaning “Able.”; “ that many people refused to interpret the scarlet A by its original signification. They said that it meant Able; so strong was Hester Prynne, with a woman's strength.” Also, Hester has become more active. She gives food to the poor people and nurses the sick people. Unformatted text preview: she never gives up on herself, she keeps trying to overcome her sin. In the chapter 18(A Food of Sunshine), also we can see that Dimmesdale changes in positive way. First, Dimmesdale starts to overcome himself. He finally decides to move to Europe with Hester. He also tries to get to know Pearl. These things represent that he is trying to overcome from his sin and his past. In chapters (13-19), I cannot find any positive changing of Chillingworth....
