Brian Taimanglo English II Professor Matthew Screnci Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:00-5:15 Gender is the role that society assigns, to men and women based on their gender identity. Gender also involves hierarchy, placing men and women in different positions in terms of power, wealth, occupations, and culture. Over the decades women have fought for equal rights, but women are still discriminate on in today’s society. Women have organized many movements in order to become equal. “It took over seventy years of hard political work by both black and white women’s organization to win the right to vote” (373). Winning the nineteenth amendment was a big step for equal rights for women. This step showed how women can come together no matter the race in order to get equal rights. But winning the right to vote was only one of many steps that women had to go through. Society views the father as the head of the house and the provider of the family, while women were stay at home moms. The women’s task as stay at home mom was to cook, clean, wash clothes, and
