Group 61 PBI2 Outline #1 Alex Hill, Sarah Hughes, Sarah Burch, Clif Cranford, Brooke Allen While driving to the University of Georgia from my hometown, Statesboro, I started thinking about what sacrifices I have to make in order to complete the three and a half hour drive. I thought about the cost and more importantly, the negative effects my truck was having on the environment through its use of gasoline (fossil fuel) and carbon dioxide emissions. As redneck as this sounds, I love my truck and I do not want to switch to a fuel efficient car in order to help the environment. I believe that many people in the South do not want to drive more fuel efficient cars and many can’t as hybrids and electric cars are usually more expensive. Therefore, I thought to myself, is there a way we as a nation can lower carbon dioxide emissions without switching to these types of automobiles? Whenever carbon is burned, the bonding of carbon and oxygen in the air forms a colorless gas. The presence of this compound, called carbon dioxide, has increased exponentially
